Silverfish Pest Control

This species has worldwide distribution, and is often found in association with human habitation. Frequently seen foraging at night in kitchens and pantries where they may become trapped in sinks and receptacles due to their inability to climb smooth or polished surfaces. During the day, they hide behind Wallpaper, skirting boards and beneath loose floor coverings.

Primitive insects, silverfish are often found in association with damp conditions. Although frequently associated with man, they are not Public Health Pests.

If control is required, of what is generally a harmless organism which may be a nuisance on occasion, the use of any locally approved residual insecticide is usually sufficient, with close attention to cracks and crevices. If it is practical, reduction of the humidity levels in the affected area is often effective.

White - brown eggs are usually laid in foodstuffs or adjacent structure, but are occasionally dropped at random. Mated females may lay up to 100 eggs over the coarse of several months. The life cycle may take up to 1 year, over 10 instars.
